NOTICE OF POLLING PLACE ELECTION

CANON CITY AREA FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

FREMONT COUNTY, COLORADO

 

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, and, particularly, to the electors of the CANON CITY AREA FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, of Fremont County, Colorado.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a polling place election will be held on the 6th day of May 2025, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. MST.

The following polling place on election day shall be:

  • Canon City Area Recreation and Park District Community Room, 575 Ash Street, Canon City, CO 81212

At said election, the electors of the District shall vote for: Two (2) Directors who will each serve a four (4) year term.

The names of the persons nominated as Director for a four (4) year term:

          Lance Tomar

          Chuck McIntyre

          Debbi Hilburn

          Chris Vodopich

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that an eligible elector of said District, for the purpose of said election, is a person registered to vote and who has been a resident of the District, or who, or whose spouse or civil union partner, owns taxable real or personal property within the District, whether said person resides within the District or not, or a person who is obligated to pay taxes under a contract to purchase taxable property within the District shall be considered an owner of taxable property for the purpose of qualifying as an eligible elector.

Eligible electors of the CANON CITY AREA FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT may drop off a voted ballot, beginning April 10, 2025 at the location listed below.

     Canon City Area Fire Protection District ballot drop off-

     Fire District Headquarters, 3016 East Main Street, Canon City

            Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MST

The Office of the Designated Election Official, located at 3016 East Main Street, Canon City, is open on the following days in case a replacement ballot is needed:

Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MST from April 16, 2025 - May 5, 2025.

Polling place: Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. MST.

Ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m. MST on Election Day, May 6, 2025.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that an application for a mail-in as a Permanent Absentee Voter (PAV) shall be filed with the Designated Election Official no later than the close of business on April 29, 2025. The application is available by emailing info@ccrider.us or calling 303-492-1002.

The District is governed by a five member Board, whom are elected at large from citizens living or owning property within the District boundaries. Elections are conducted in May of every odd numbered year. The Board conducts monthly meetings at the District's Headquarters, located at 3016 East Main Street, Canon City, Colorado 81212. The meetings are held on the second Monday of every month beginning at 5:30 p.m. If there is an item you would like to have put on the agenda, contact the Canon City Fire District Office by the Wednesday before the next scheduled meeting!

WHAT'S YOUR ADDRESS?

If you have an emergency in your home or business, we can't help you if we can't find you. When you call 911 to request assistance, a vital piece of information is your address. However, it is important that you have your numerical address visible so that emergency vehicles responding to your aid will be able to reach the scene in a timely manner. In most areas the numerical addresses for each building should be at least 3 inches in height and readily visible from the roadway. It is also helpful if the numbers are reflective so they're visible at night. By posting your home or business numbers you will be helping us help you without unnecessary delays.

The mission of the Canon City Fire District is to provide services that mitigate hazards to life and property from the perils of fire, medical emergencies, and hazardous materials and technical rescue incidents.
